Campus placement preparation: aptitude to HR round

Campus placements move fast: aptitude, group discussion, technical and HR rounds, often in one day. Preparing each stage separately is the key.

Campus placement preparation

Aptitude test
Practise quantitative, logical reasoning and verbal sections with timed mock tests. Speed and accuracy both count.
Group discussion
Speak early with a clear point, back it with an example, listen and build on others, and help the group reach a conclusion.
Technical round
Revise your core subjects and your final-year project. Interviewers test fundamentals heavily for freshers.
HR round
Prepare 'tell me about yourself', strengths and weaknesses, and why this company. Be honest and specific.
Resume
One page, projects with what you did and the result, skills you can defend in the interview.
Company research
Know what each visiting company does and the role on offer before its process starts.

Questions, answered.

When should I start preparing for campus placements?

Ideally two to three months before the season, with daily aptitude practice and weekly mock interviews.

Which round eliminates the most students?

Usually the aptitude test, followed by the technical round.

How is this different from a list of interview questions?

A list is the same for everyone. Ambo builds your course from your resume, your target role and where you're interviewing, then writes every lesson from the interviewer's point of view: what they'll ask, a strong answer, and the follow-up they'll use to test you.

What is the certification test?

Three camera-proctored rounds that unlock one after another: an objective round, a hands-on round (coding or practical tasks for your role) and a voice interview with Ambo, who asks live follow-ups on your answers. Pass all three within 14 days to become TickBig Certified for 12 months.

Practise it out loud before the real one.
