Chartered Accountant interview questions, and how to answer them

CA interviews test technical depth in accounting standards, tax and audit, plus how you apply them to a real business situation.

Chartered Accountant interview questions

  1. Explain the five-step model of revenue recognition under Ind AS 115.

    What they’re testing: Standards depth.

How to answer: Quantify, check materiality, discuss with management, propose adjustments and consider the impact on the opinion.

    What they’re testing: Tax accounting.

How to answer: Tax effect of timing differences between book profit and taxable profit, recognised as deferred tax assets or liabilities.

  5. Tell me about your articleship experience.

    What they’re testing: Real exposure.

How to answer: Name the industries, the audits or assignments you handled, and one issue you found and how it was resolved.
